About

Songbirds Music offers interactive early childhood music programs where children and their grownups take part in singing, dancing, rhythmic and tonal play, instrument play, lap songs, lullabies, and full-on jam sessions. Classes include music and movement with songs, rhythm chants, and movement activities in a relaxed, playful, non-performance-oriented setting. Families participate together in family-style classes with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers each joining in at their own level.

• Ages: Birth–6 years old
• Schedule: Music Together Mixed-Age Classes meet once a week for 45 minutes, and the one-semester Music Together Babies Class is created especially for families with infants under nine months old.

Since 2008, Songbirds Music has offered a safe and nurturing place, described as a nest, where families and friends with little ones ages birth to 5 gather to learn, grow, and connect through music, movement, and play in an informal yet supportive environment. The program includes interactive early childhood music options in both Spanish and English, including Music Together Mixed-Age Classes for ages 0–5 years and the Canta y Baila Conmigo Spanish language and music program for ages 0–6 years, with weekly classes taught by a native Spanish speaker. Songbirds Music is play based and highly engaging, is not formal instrument instruction, and focuses on giving children ages 0–5 space to build the foundation for a lifetime of music-making in a community of families sharing songs, instrument play, rhythm chants, and movement activities.

The program describes its teachers as highly trained.

Parents and caregivers describe Songbirds Music as a safe space for an anxious first-time mom and as a very important part of a child’s development, and they note that the instructors are amazing and that scheduling and flexibility with rescheduling or make-up classes make participation easy. Families say the classes are fun, personal, interactive, and engaging, and mention that babies and older children enjoy the music, including listening to CDs and singing along at home. One parent notes that even through Zoom, their child looks forward to seeing music buddies, and another shares that Miss Diana keeps children of all ages and abilities engaged throughout each class. Multiple caregivers refer to Songbirds Music as a gem, an oasis, and a special program they look forward to continuing.
