Sports4Kids involves kids in collecting sports equipment and distributing it to people in need. Participants can volunteer in community events that support homeless youth, take part in feeding the homeless, supply back-to-school backpacks to financially needy families, and help assemble and offer care packages for individuals without homes. The program also includes sports programs in schools that have a high homeless student population, along with games and sports that promote teamwork and play for every kid.

• Price: $25 Donation provides granola bars, peanut butter, and whole grain crackers; $50 Donation supplies dried fruits, tuna, and mixed nuts; $100 Donation delivers macaroni & cheese, beans, and instant oatmeal; $250 Donation offers an abundance of granola bars, peanut butter, rice or quinoa, and canned fruit

Sports4Kids states a mission to create a brighter future for young individuals in the community who are facing homelessness. The organization is 100 percent volunteer-run and is a fiscally sponsored project of Mission Edge San Diego. The founder and CEO of Sports4Kids is Arden Pala.

Sports4Kids offers community events for kids of all ages to volunteer and support the homeless youth community, giving young volunteers a platform to make a difference in the lives of peers in need. The program provides sports programs in schools with a high homeless student population and involves youth volunteers in games and sports.

Sports4Kids has received recognition including the Gold Presidential Volunteer Service Award, the President’s Lifetime Volunteer Service Award, the SoCal Film Award, the Creators Film Festival Award, and the American Youth Film Festival. In a testimonial, Arden Pala stated, “I wrote it, I directed it, and I thought of the idea. I decided to make this documentary so I can hep the city, not just the city, but homelessness in general and all of the United States.” Another testimonial notes, “It’s such a great honor”: Rancho Bernardo teen recognized on his birthday by City of San Diego - Rancho Bernardo teen.
