Aim High Summer is designed for current 5th–8th grade middle school students who have limited access to summer academic enrichment programs and is committed to a multi-summer learning experience from 5th through 8th grade, with students expected to attend consecutive summers throughout middle school. The program’s behavior expectations and interventions are rooted in restorative practices that Aim High has worked to implement as a way to prevent and respond to conflict, harm, and wrong-doing. Aim High states CORE values of Community, Opportunity, Respect, and High Expectations and describes its goal as creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment where every student can thrive and where staff and students feel they are part of something special and can be their true selves.
An Aim High parent describes the program as a lifeline as a working parent, noting confidence that their child experiences both fun and learning, easy communication, strong program offerings, and that the child enjoys the instructors. The same parent notes that Aim High Summer has given their child a taste of middle school transitions between classes, different enrichment options, new sports, and mentorship.
