About
YAX Summer Art Camps is a 4-week hands-on summer art camp where participants work in visual arts and STEM-based projects. Campers take part in painting, sculpture, mixed media, immersive craft projects, and design and construct their own imaginative worlds, including crafting unique ecosystems and landscapes. Activities also include drawing, creating their own monster trading cards, making art inspired by ancient civilizations and futuristic cities, and crafting marine creatures and coral reef scenes.

• Schedule: June 29, 2026 – July 24, 2026; YAX Summer Art Camp is a 4-week hands-on summer art camp.
Classes are led by professional artists and educators. Each week, young artists explore a new theme, with weekly themes that include Build a Biome (Minecraft-Inspired), Mythical Creatures, Time Travelers, and Underwater Explorers. The program features small groups and dedicated teaching artists in a setting described as a safe and welcoming environment for kids, with activities described as designed to develop creativity, problem-solving, and confidence. YAX offers camp programming for 3rd–5th grade students in the summer, and scholarships are available.
Youth Art Exchange has centered free, high-quality arts programming for public high school students for more than 20 years. Youth Art Exchange sparks shared creative practice between professional artists, public high school students, and the broader community, fostering youth leadership, artistic growth, and equitable access to the arts across generations in San Francisco. Youth Art Exchange operates as a community arts center and serves San Francisco youth, artists, and community members across generations, hosting rotating exhibitions featuring local artists and monthly community events such as drawing nights, open-mic nights, textile art drop-ins, and seasonal celebrations. Its galleries and communal spaces host rotating exhibitions and free seasonal events, including community celebrations and makers markets that invite neighbors, families, and artists to gather, create, and connect. Youth Art Exchange states that the arts are essential to personal expression, community connection, and collective well-being, and that racial equity is central to how it designs programs, builds partnerships, and invests resources.
