About

DancEsteem at MoBu Dance Studio offers classes in ballet, hip-hop, contemporary dance, creative movement, and modern dance. The program also runs summer dance camps in addition to its regular classes.

• Ages: 4–18 years old
• Schedule: DancEsteem offers 15 to 18 week classes two times a year (fall and winter/spring).

DancEsteem began in 1996. The program is led by Takami Craddock, who is the founder and director of DancEsteem. MoBu Dance Studio serves more than 200 families in the program. The program includes a professionally produced annual performance each spring, a popular summer camp, and a Special Exchange Program for eligible students. Classes range from ballet, hip-hop, and contemporary, and are offered by grade rather than by level, with most students taking a class once a week. Summer dance camps are offered for kids in K–5th grade and teens in 6th–10th grade, led by experienced teachers and camp TAs. Students learn creative dance, choreography, and improvisation, and they learn to give and receive constructive, positive, and respectfully honest feedback. Once dancers become teens, they develop choreography collaboratively with teachers in Teen Company classes. The stated mission of DancEsteem’s director, Takami Craddock, is for young dancers to develop their own identity and creativity through movement, and for those who find themselves loving dance to find self-confidence and self-esteem in their own way and in their own time, using a method based on Creative Movement, Ballet, and Modern dance.
