About

DancEsteem at MoBu Dance Studio offers classes in ballet, hip-hop, contemporary dance, creative movement, and modern dance. The program also runs summer dance camps in addition to its regular classes. Most students take a class once a week, and classes are offered by grade rather than by level.

• Ages: 4–18 years old
• Schedule: DancEsteem offers 15 to 18 week classes two times a year in fall and winter/spring.

DancEsteem began in 1996 and has more than 200 families in the program. The program puts on a professionally produced annual performance each spring, including the 2026 DancEsteem Annual Performance on May 2 and 3, 2026, at Fort Mason Cowell Theater. MoBu Dance Studio also offers a popular summer camp and 2026 DancEsteem Summer Dance Camps for kids in kindergarten through 5th grade and teens in 6th through 10th grade, led by experienced teachers and camp TAs. MoBu Dance Studio offers a Special Exchange Program for eligible students. The director, Takami Craddock, is the founder and director of DancEsteem.

According to the mission statement from director Takami Craddock, the program is based on a method using creative movement, ballet, and modern dance so that young dancers can develop their own identity and creativity through movement. The mission statement also says that MoBu is not about competition, that it is not necessary to have a perfect body or perform choreography perfectly, and that the service is to create a love for dance at any age and show students that dancing is good for self-esteem. The mission statement explains that the program teaches not only technique but also improvisation and creative dance through movement. MoBu (最舞) means “True” Dance.
