About
Environmental STEM Programs introduces students to bees and pollinators through hands-on activities such as honey tasting and building native bee houses. The program uses standards-aligned environmental STEM lessons that follow an NGSS-aligned curriculum and include both synchronous and asynchronous formats tailored to diverse learning styles.
• Price: Our programs are provided at no cost to schools in our dedication to equity and inclusion.
The Environmental STEM Program is designed by certified teachers and entomologists. The stated mission is to create a green-minded generation by teaching about the importance of bees as a pathway to STEM and conservation, and to use science and stewardship to cultivate the green leaders of tomorrow. Educators participating in the program gain access to professional development, online STEM sessions, lesson plans, videos, and educational kits.
The organization teaches in schools and partners with corporations in the US and abroad, both virtually and in person. Interactive corporate workshops are offered virtually or in person and can include hands-on experiences such as honey tasting or building native bee houses, and these corporate programs are customizable to align with sustainability and social responsibility goals. All proceeds from corporate programs fund educational STEM programs in schools at no cost.
The Native Bee Community Science Program is open to anyone interested in contributing to scientific research, with no scientific experience needed. This program includes placing native bee homes engineered by individuals in and around their neighborhoods to collect data and support bees through stewardship, and it is described as fostering inquiry-based learning with hands-on tools for skill development.
A testimonial from Dave Hunter, Native Bee Expert and Founder of Crown Bees, states that he supports Planet Bee because its educators turn science into wonder, inspire students to notice and care for bees that sustain food and ecosystems, create connections between people and pollinators, and use engaging lessons and hands-on experiences to spark curiosity, stewardship, and hope for the future.
