About

STEMful School Break Camps offer hands-on STEM programs where children take part in play-based activities that blend science, technology, engineering, art, and math. The classrooms are described as more like workshops than lecture halls, where experiments are treated as adventures and mistakes are used as learning tools. School Break Camps are described as “Fun days when school’s closed but curiosity isn’t.”

• Ages: 1.5–10 years old
• Schedule: Open Monday–Friday, 9:30 am–6:00 pm PT

STEMful’s mission is to build children’s confidence around how the world works by guiding them through an engaging, project-based STEM curriculum. The founder, Kim Nguyen-Ehrenreich, earned a bachelor’s degree in zoology with a concentration in marine biology and a master’s degree in oceanography, and she built and led a research lab in cardiovascular science in collaboration with world-renowned scientists. STEMful programs include Summer Camps described as “STEM-powered adventures that keep kids exploring all summer long” and Afterschool Programs described as “Structured, hands-on enrichment that supports curious children and working parents,” and camps offer an “a la carte” option for families who need care for just an odd day or two. Testimonials from parents describe children learning concepts such as centrifugal force, kinetic energy, and optical illusions through play, note that staff are engaging and caring, mention support for a child with special needs, and report that children get plenty of outdoor time and fun trips to the park.
