Tat Wong Kung Fu Academy Kids Kung Fu and Self-Defense Classes includes training in Kung Fu, self-defense, kickboxing, and Choy Lay Fut Kung Fu. Students can also learn traditional Chinese martial arts open-hand and weapons forms, including shaolin staff, tiger-tail sword, and mui-fa spear, as well as Tai Chi, Chi Gung, and Shuai Jiao. Tat Wong Kung Fu Academy was established in 1983 and has more than 30 years of experience. The academy offers specialized kids Kung Fu and self-defense classes, with Tiger Team classes for ages 4 through 7, Juniors Kung Fu classes for ages 7–12, and teens age 13 or 14 and up normally attending adult classes. Classes for children are organized by skill level, including beginner, intermediate, advanced, and black belt classes, and follow an age-group specialized curriculum with step-by-step progression of self-defense techniques and kung fu skills. The curriculum includes kickboxing, self-defense, and traditional kung fu forms, and the school also offers special self-defense seminars, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day self-defense workouts, and specialized seminars for intermediate and advanced kids in self-defense applications, performance and competition techniques, lion dancing, and traditional Chinese martial arts open-hand and weapons forms. Workshops and extra-curricular activities include parades, martial arts tournaments, performances, and Chinese lion dancing, and the program is described as an alternative for students who are not inclined towards team sports.

Grandmaster Tat-Mau Wong, founder of Tat Wong Kung Fu Academy, began his training as a child in Hong Kong with Judo, Tae Kwon Do, and Choy Lay Fut Kung Fu, and has practiced Tai Chi, Chi Gung, and Shuai Jiao. He trained and competed in full-contact kickboxing and performed traditional kung fu forms before coming to the United States, where he has taught thousands of students and developed a professional staff of top black belt instructors. His top instructors are masters and kung fu sifus who have gained notoriety as martial arts experts and revered teachers. Grandmaster Wong is internationally respected as a practitioner, teacher, and martial arts master, and he was honored in November 2016 at an international martial arts event in Malaysia and inducted into their Hall of Fame.
