Since 2011, the Caio Terra Academy in San Jose, California has served as the headquarters of the Caio Terra Association and is led by 12-time world champion Caio Terra. Classes are taught by world-class competitors and coaches, including Mason Fowler, Tyler Shew, and Professor Caio Terra. The academy follows a one-team philosophy, stating that although they train hard and compete, martial arts values and respect for each other always come first, and their stated goal is to help students achieve the goals they set for themselves. When a child first tries a class, the academy provides loaner gis and strongly suggests that families do not buy a gi before signing up. For gi classes, students are allowed to wear any brand of gi. For no-gi classes, the academy requires a CTA rash guard and black shorts with no pockets.
