The program states that it does not just teach coding and robotics, but creates learning environments for kids to develop logical thinking, creative exploration, and critical reasoning skills while having fun. Their curriculum includes more than 45 classes in a coding journey, uses their own curriculum with badges and certificates at each step, and focuses on project-based classes in small groups, including options for in-person and online classes, summer camps, private online classes, “My Friends Online” small group classes, and private tutoring. CodeAdvantage reports that it has taught more than 10,000 kids to code, offers an industry-best 7:1 student-to-teacher ratio, and provides a turnkey approach to more than 20 interactive coding and robotics classes for schools.

Instructors are selected from US universities and colleges with tech backgrounds and experience with kids. The leadership team includes co-founders Charu Chaturvedi and Paul May, and Educational Director Erica Chodkowski, who has a dual master’s degree in Elementary and Special Education. Charu Chaturvedi has a BS in chemical engineering, an MBA from Columbia University, and holds two patents, and Paul May has an MBA from Columbia University.

Their afterschool coding programs are described as award-winning and have been featured many times in the media. CodeAdvantage partners with schools including Kew-Forest School in Forest Hills (Queens), Ethical Culture in New York City, and Lycee Francais in New York City to provide technology and coding classes.

Parent, student, and school testimonials describe specific experiences with the program. A 7th grade student from Illinois reports loving Roblox Code and mentions learning about variables and imports, and a 9-year-old from New Jersey describes Scratch as fun and says it feels like a dream to create video games. A parent from California reports that his 13-year-old son loved his Python class and enjoyed sharing what he created, and schools such as Kew-Forest, Ethical Culture, and Lycee Francais describe CodeAdvantage classes as fun and interactive, with students engaged and enthusiastic, and note that the organization recruits good teachers, uses a clear and organized curriculum, and listens to school needs.
