King’s Martial Arts Academy has been a home for martial arts in San Jose since 1989, expanded to its current location in 2010, and has been led by current owner Master Bradley Cole since 2021. The academy is a Christian-based martial arts program that follows Christian values while welcoming everyone, with a family-friendly community and a fun yet disciplined, highly energetic learning environment. The mission of King’s Martial Arts Academy is to teach and improve Taekwondo, martial arts, and self-defense; prepare and empower students to persevere to achieve their goals; encourage students to treat and respect each other as themselves; guide students to practice self-control in and out of the studio; and instruct students to learn and live with integrity, with a focus on the Five Tenets of Taekwondo: courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, and indomitable spirit.
Founder Jeff King established the school, and the current leadership team includes owner and Head Instructor Master Bradley Cole (5th Degree Black Belt), Senior Instructors Kenji Earl (4th Dan), Koji Earl (4th Dan), Juvina Tula (3rd Dan), and Arrawynn Hall (3rd Dan), and Instructor Sofia Rangel (2nd Dan). Instructors at King’s Martial Arts Academy are Kukkiwon certified, and the school is Kukkiwon certified from the birthplace of Taekwondo in Korea. Master Bradley Cole brought 20 years of experience, including competing in the Junior Olympic Taekwondo Nationals and expanded training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, Hapkido, and weapons. The instructors get to know their students on a personal level and provide individualized instruction, with attention to detail and an emphasis on goal setting for younger students, self-defense skills for real-life situations, and Taekwondo-centric training that includes traditional culture.
King’s Martial Arts Academy offers two free trial martial arts classes for beginners, a variety of class levels and times, and monthly or yearly memberships with different options for how often students train per week. The program includes special events such as summer camps, Parents’ Night Out, Fellowship events for Black Belts, and tournaments in the summertime that kids enjoy. King’s Martial Arts has earned a reputation in San Jose, Morgan Hill, Almaden, Alum Rock, Vista Park, South San Jose, and Los Gatos as a top martial arts school for enriching students’ lives and equipping them to face life with a winning edge, and it has contributed to the San Jose Taekwondo community and helped other instructors open their own schools.
