Neighborhood Christian Preschool

Neighborhood Christian Preschool offers daily activities that include sensory play, music, movement, storytelling, art, and water play. The program also includes weekly Chapel times, worship, Bible lessons, and prayer as part of the regular routine. Classrooms are divided into spaces such as a home center, science table, block area, water play area, and reading nook, with integrated indoor and outdoor spaces that change themes throughout the year.

• Schedule: Currently accepting children six weeks to 5 years old, with care available Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, and Wednesday from 7:00 am to 5:45 pm

Neighborhood Christian Preschool is a Christian preschool and childcare center and a program of Agape Schools, Inc. Neighborhood Christian Center and Neighborhood Christian Preschool are ministries of Agape Schools, Inc., doing business as Neighborhood Christian Schools, which is a religious corporation operating under a religious mission. The program offers faith-centered, play-based learning with worship, prayer, and loving guidance woven into daily life, including weekly chapel with joyful worship and age-appropriate Bible stories. Faith is also woven into the day through weekly chapel, prayer, and Bible stories.

Programs at Neighborhood Christian Preschool serve children from six weeks through five years or about to enter first grade, including an Infant 1 program for newborn to walking, an Infant 2 program for walking to 24 months, Preschool 1 and 2 programs for 2 to 4 years, and a Transitional Kindergarten program for 4 to 5 years. The program follows a holistic approach to learning that addresses physical, social and emotional, and cognitive domains, with an environment described as supporting the whole child—mind, body, and spirit. Teachers greet each child at the door and share the day through photos and messages.

The school’s philosophy is centered on viewing each student as unique and gifted by God for a special purpose, and its mission focuses on helping children know and understand the love of Jesus Christ. Neighborhood Christian Preschool and Agape Schools admit students of any age, race, color, national and ethnic origin and do not discriminate on these bases in administration of policies and programs, and NCP does not discriminate with regard to enrollment or participation in programs or activities on the basis of race, color, sex, or national ethnic origin. Neighborhood Christian Schools does not require parents to subscribe to any statement of faith or make a profession of faith, but does require parents to cooperate with and respect its religious mission, values, religious education, and philosophy.

Clifford E. Daugherty founded Agape Schools Inc. in 1981, and a decade later he and his wife, Kris Daugherty, opened the doors of Neighborhood Christian Preschool. Clifford E. Daugherty, Ed.D., serves as President. NCP has developed a partnership with the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and has partnered with San Jose City College for accreditation of programs, teaching, and training of staff at the highest national level. NCP was one of the first preschools to be recognized as an Exemplary Partner with Valley Christian Schools, and Agape schools are founding members of the Ekklesia in Education.
