Plaza Summer Camp is a free, full-day childcare and arts program for youth in the Mayfair and East San José community. It serves grades 1–8 and is expanding to serve grades 1–12. The program has more than doubled in size since 2021 and offers culturally rooted programming.
The mission of the Mexican Heritage Plaza is to champion community heritage, strength, and resiliency through the activation of arts and culture as a pathway for community preservation and celebration. Referrals from ¡Sí Se Puede! Collective partners ensure the camp prioritizes low-income households, helping to reduce summer learning loss and support working parents.
The leadership and support team connected to the program includes Alex Corona (Facilities Manager), Brenda Dyson (Director of Development), Carlos Montes (Theater Production Coordinator), Carlos Morales (Marketing Manager), Chris Higareda (Production Specialist), Claudia Harvey (Executive Assistant), Edgar Ochoa (Director of Community Engagement), Fidel Gomez (Director of Video & Communications), Jay Huang (Director of Finance), Jessica Paz-Cedillos (Chief Executive Officer), Marcel Quiroz (Interim Director of Production), Melissa Canela (Deputy Director of Programs), Millie Del Carmen (Community Events Manager), Rich Weidling (Production Specialist), Rockhaya Fountila (HR Director), Rojana Ibarra (Arts Education Program Manager), Ruben Campos (Video Production Manager), Santi Garcia (Community Support Specialist), Vanessa Gonzalez (HR & Operations Associate), Veronica Eldredge (Community Engagement Specialist), Vanessa Palafox (Program Initiatives Manager), and Zuri Lazare (Production Events Specialist).
