Founded in 1976 as part of Action Day Schools, West Valley Dance Company began with a single dance class, and by 2009 the West Valley Dance Cats team was created. From 1976 to 2009, more than 15,000 dancers passed through its studios, and by 2015 the program had grown into West Valley Dance Company with its first independent studio opening in April 2015. Expansion continued with a second studio in Willow Glen in 2016, a shift to virtual classes and a virtual recital in 2020, and the addition of ballroom dance classes and an Acrobatic Arts program in 2021. The program includes teams for various age groups, such as Dance Kittens, Tom Cats for all-boys hip hop, high school All Stars, and the West Valley Dance Cats competitive team, and has presented an annual recital production that included a flying cast and three sold-out shows of Peter Pan.

The studios feature elegant facilities with boutique dance rooms, Tiffany Blue accents, crystal chandeliers, plush seating, lounges, a dedicated space for competition teams, a lounge for rest and reflection, and a viewing area for parents. The teaching staff brings industry expertise and a stated passion for education. The mission of West Valley Dance Company is to provide a professional, inspiring dance education for all ages, rooted in passion, excellence, and community, with a philosophy that focuses on instilling confidence, supporting individual growth, and building a legacy of empowered dancers.
