Bay Area Jiu-Jitsu

Bay Area Jiu-Jitsu offers self-defense training that includes Jiu-Jitsu, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, MMA, and Judo. Classes take place at The Charles Gracie Jiu-Jitsu San Mateo Academy and are part of the Charles Gracie network of academies, where several different black belts show up to help train. Kids train in an environment where only Charles Gracie Gis are used on the mat.

• Ages: 3–15 years old
• Schedule: Class options Monday–Thursday afternoons and evenings, and Saturday mornings to early afternoon

Cristiano is the head black belt instructor and head professor at Bay Area Jiu-Jitsu, and he leads the classes. Families are asked to have their child wear loose-fitting workout clothes, or a t-shirt and sweats (no jeans) if they do not have a gi, and visitors can request a visitor gi. One parent notes that their daughter started Jiu-Jitsu twice a week and loves it, and several parents and students describe the instructors, including Cristiano, as great with kids, friendly, and welcoming. Multiple testimonials mention that the academy is very clean and tidy, and that the atmosphere is friendly and respectful.
