Camp Couture was founded in 2005 by Alexandria von Bromssen and is now in its 11th year, with over 10 years of teaching design to children and adults in the Bay Area. The program is curated and owned by designer Alexandria von Bromssen, MFA, who was 1st Runner Up on Lifetime’s award-winning show Project Runway Season 12. Camp Couture states that kids classes are designed to meet any age and skill set, that students can learn a variety of techniques and are guided along the process with comprehensive instructors, and that classes are unique, informative and fun. The studio environment is described as fashion savvy, with projects that are creative, innovative and designed for fun, and each student is challenged to set his or her ability, with no student held back or prevented from moving forward. The program reports having 4–6 teachers, with each age group having a dedicated mentor for the week, and states that it aims to teach well and feels its method is a superior one.

Camp Couture states that it strives to be a leader in the instruction of creativity, technical/haute couture sewing instruction, and repurposing techniques for kids of all ages, and that students who attend will learn a skill they can enjoy throughout their life. The program notes that participants can be 8, 9, 14 or 70, and that no one is ever too young, too old, or too cool to learn, especially when it comes to creativity. More serious Camp Couture students have gone on to be accepted to Pratt, FIDM, RISD, Otis, Academy of Art University, and the Design School of Paris, France. The program is involved with girl scout troops through bag classes and describes the gift of knowledge and a skill as one that empowers. Families can also view videos on the Camp Couture YouTube channel to get a better idea of what Camp Couture is about.
