About
The Marvegos Fine Art School offers week-long art camps and classes where students work with drawing, painting, wood sculpture, clay, mixed media, and printmaking. Projects vary by age and camp program, and each week of camp follows a specific theme such as Curious Creatives, Visionary Viewpoints, Myth and Legend, or Natural Encounters. Teen Camp projects use more complex materials, techniques, and challenges.
• Ages: 4½–18 years old
• Schedule: Week-long art camps and a summer session that meets 1 day per week, with full-day and half-day camp options and extended care add-ons
• Price: A $150 non-refundable deposit is required to secure a birthday party reservation; a 10% discount is available on week-long camp and class registrations made one month or more prior to the start of the program, with no discounts on extended care or the 1 day per week summer session
The Marvegos Fine Art School offers an Art Exploration program for ages 4½–7 years, a Fine Art Fundamentals program for ages 7–11 years, and an Advanced Exploration program for ages 11 and up. Summer art programs for kids and teens include week-long art camps and summer one-day-per-week art classes similar to the school-year program. The student-to-instructor ratio is no more than 6:1, and some camps may include up to 12 students with two instructors. Full Day Camp runs from 9 AM to 3 PM, Morning Camp runs from 9 AM to 12 PM, and Afternoon Camp runs from 1 PM to 4 PM, with extended care available as an add-on in specified one-hour blocks before and after camp. Parents provide snacks and lunch for Full Day Camp and Teen Camp, and snacks for Morning and Afternoon Camps. All students must be fully potty trained, and instructors are not equipped to assist students with using the restroom.
The Marvegos Fine Art School also hosts kids’ birthday parties centered on art, can accommodate up to 20 art makers, and can schedule parties on weekends or some weekdays depending on availability. A $150 non-refundable deposit is required to secure a birthday party reservation. A free class is available, described as “A FREE CLASS WILL SHOW YOU HOW.”
The mission of The Marvegos Fine Art School states that it encourages creativity through art and that making one’s own choices within a framework is described as the essence of creative choice. The Marvegos approach to teaching fine art for children begins with the idea that everyone is creative and can be afraid of it or learn to use it with confidence.
Parent and student comments include statements that children “had a great time at Marvegos summer camp” and “kept asking to go to Marvegos,” and that “the teachers are not only great artists themselves, but have the abilities to engage young minds.” One parent notes liking “their approach of letting the kids expand and experiment and yet teach some basic terms and art fundamentals.” Children describe liking being able to “be myself, be free, have fun… and be creative,” enjoying “learning new ways to make colors, to paint,” and thinking of ideas in their imagination before drawing them.
