• Ages: 3–10 years old
• Schedule: Multiple 4- and 5-day themed sessions with morning-only options from 9:00am–12:00pm and full-day options from 9:00am–4:30pm

Bay Area Summer Camp 2026 is in partnership with San Mateo Parks & Recreation and is part of Broadway Babies and Kids, which operates in several California communities. Camps include a magical showcase or performance for family and friends at the end of the week and feature leadership programming through AMERICAN MUSICAL THEATRE CONSERVATORY and Broadway Babies and Kids. Friends of Broadway Babies and Kids is a non-profit organization that makes the performing arts accessible to all.
Director Katie Kerwin-Gielniak leads Broadway Babies and Kids and holds a B.F.A. from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts CAP21 Conservatory. Katie Kerwin has over 30 years of experience working with youth and adults, more than 30 years of professional performing and teaching acting, voice, and dance, and 14 years leading the Musical Theatre Program at the Westlake School for the Performing Arts and Schumacher School of Dance. Her background includes classical vocal training, musical theatre and pop vocal performance, Theatre Jazz, Broadway and contemporary tap dance technique, musical theatre education, early childhood development, and work as assistant to the Artistic Director and Resident Choreographer at the Show Palace Dinner Theatre in Florida. She is a proud member of the Actor’s Equity Association, was featured in the ensemble of the Broadway cast album of Irving Berlin’s WHITE CHRISTMAS released in 2006, and is an accomplished figure skater and ice dancer.
At BBK, the stated mission is to use the performing arts to build healthy bodies and minds, instill discipline, foster teamwork, and develop creative problem-solving skills. Katie Kerwin’s award-winning musical theatre and Broadway vocal programming has earned acclaim, and her talents have been showcased in the TONY award-winning production of Irving Berlin’s WHITE CHRISTMAS.
Parents and students have shared that their children “absolutely LOVE Broadway Babies and Kids” and describe the studio as warm and welcoming, with kids “gaining new skills and making friends along the way.” One parent notes that a child received “a positive and supportive first experience in theater,” and another shares that a daughter who started as “a young shy kiddo” has developed vocal and musical theatre acting skills and gone on to perform onstage in the Bay Area in lead and featured ensemble roles. A former student, now a member of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, states, “I truly would not be here without you!”
