About
Small Fry Dance Club offers dance and performance classes that include ballet, tap, jazz, musical theatre, and music & movement. The program includes a Spring Musical Theatre Performance called “Broadway Baby!” for young dancers who participate in musical theatre classes.
• Ages: 18 months–18 years old
• Price: Annual Family Registration Fee: $45. Dance & Performance Classes: $90/mo. Music & Movement Classes: $75/mo.
Small Fry Dance Club was founded in 2007 by husband and wife team Jana and Carlos Chapeton. The program specializes exclusively in early childhood dance education, with age-appropriate classes for ages 18 months–5 years and options for many dancers to continue up to 18 years through combined programs. Every class is designed to support child development by improving balance, coordination, listening skills, and confidence. The Spring Musical Theatre Performance “Broadway Baby!” is described as fun, age-appropriate, and low-stress for dancers ages 2–5, with no extra rehearsals outside of class, and dancers learn everything during class time. Dancers in this spring performance keep their costume and earn a performance patch, and registration for the spring performance closes on 4/27/26.
Small Fry Dance Club began in 2007 as an on-site extracurricular program in a small number of Bay Area preschools and has taught over 7000 dancers at over 20 locations in the Bay Area. Current preschool centers served include The Carey School in San Mateo; Kids Connection in Foster City; Happy Campers Laurel; Happy Campers Carlmont; Learning Links Burlingame; Learning Links Mountain View; Learning Links at Electronic Arts; LifeConnections; and Kindercare at Cisco. The San Mateo studio is open to the general public, and dance classes are also offered at multiple preschool centers with coordination to pull students for class. The studio is close to highways 92, 101, and 280, offers street parking, a rear parking lot, and an underground lot with a code provided upon registration, and any cars without a parking permit in the underground lot during regular business hours are subject to being towed. The studio is about 1/2 mile from the Hayward Park Caltrain station and is accessible via SamTrans bus routes on El Camino.
