Ed Hernandez Karate offers karate lessons that include Kempo Karate, karate etiquette and fitness, basic blocks, kicks and strikes, kata (forms), kumite (sparring), and self defense. Classes are organized into children’s, mixed, intermediate, and advanced groups held Monday through Saturday at set times in the afternoon and evening.

• Schedule: Class options Monday–Friday from 3:00pm–9:00pm and Saturday from 10:00am–2:00pm
• Price: Manager special $140.00 for April 2026 with the uniform included; 1 week free trial; no contracts
Ed Hernandez Karate was established on August 10, 1998. The program’s stated mission is to offer classes for children, teens, and adults with a focus on safety, fitness, and basic stances, blocks, and strikes. The founder and chief instructor, referred to as The Professor, is an 8th Degree Black Belt in Kempo Karate and has served as Chief Instructor from 1998–2026. Instructor Ed has experience that includes high school wrestling achievements, military service from 1977–1996, martial arts practice and Kempo Karate training over multiple decades, and competition from 1986–2020. He is a Certified Referee and Judge with the Bay Area Sport Karate Gold Cup Circuit and has held assistant instructor roles in Benicia and Richmond before leading Ed Hernandez Karate. The program notes that “Se habla español,” and the manager special includes a uniform.
