• Ages: 5–18 years old

Valiant Academy Jiu-Jitsu Programs is led by Founder and Head Instructor Jonathan Marroquin and Instructor Jason Marroquin, and each instructor has a rich background in the Jiu-Jitsu industry. Team Valiants started in 2019, and Valiant Academy was founded in 2023. The program’s mission states that it provides a safe training environment rooted in building a community that grows together in strength and in character, and that it strives to instill integrity, humility, compassion, and respect by utilizing Christian values and principles. According to the mission, Valiant Academy nurtures spiritual and moral growth by fostering a sense of purpose, focuses on students becoming better versions of themselves, and pivots attention to development for those in need rather than focusing solely on victory and recognition. The academy describes itself as a safe haven for students to take a break from life’s stresses and refocus that energy toward their growth, and it offers a Free Week Trial.

The program highlights a tight-knit, family-like community united by faith and Jiu-Jitsu, with a focus on character development, teamwork, faith, community, perseverance, and a warrior-like mentality and strong bonds. It states that BJJ classes are intense and driven by healthy competition and that the Valiant community continues to thrive and make a statement that hard work creates champions with great character. Valiant Academy notes that it proudly serves students from Santa Ana, Anaheim, Tustin, Orange, Irvine, Westminster, Garden Grove, and nearby communities.

Parent testimonials describe very dedicated coaches with a lot of patience with young children and a coach who is caring and loving and teaches kids more than just Jiu-Jitsu, judo, and wrestling. Parents say this is a place where kids learn self defense as well as character guiding, that kids are loved and cared for, and that the coaches really care about the kids rather than seeing them as a dollar sign. One parent shares that switching to Valiant Academy in April 2023 has been the best decision for their family, and another says the gym has raised the level of their daughter and nephew. A parent notes that their daughter has built character and confidence since joining, and several describe the group of kids and parents as feeling like a family and praise Coach Jonathan as a great role model, kind man, amazing coach, and leader.
