Hula Anyone Incorporated is a registered public benefit nonprofit organization focused on cultural preservation, education, and community enrichment through the art of hula and Polynesian dance. The organization’s roots date back to the late 1960s. Kumu Hula (Master Hula Teacher) Mahealani McFarland taught Polynesian dance classes to all ages, and leadership now includes Mahealani McFarland and Angelita Eller, who is entrusted to teach and direct the company. Angelita Eller and Hula Anyone are dedicated to the preservation of Hawaiian hula and Tahitian dance traditions.
Hula Anyone offers Polynesian dance classes and entertainment in Santa Barbara, California, and provides traditional Hawaiian and Polynesian dance forms for ages 4–84 years old. The organization puts on many of its own full-length shows and is available for private events of any size. Classes are ongoing and everyone is always welcome. Hula Anyone has drawn great Kumu Hulas and legendary musicians to Santa Barbara to perform at private estates and is one of the founders of the original Santa Barbara Outrigger Canoe Club. Hula Anyone Inc is a non-profit public benefit organization.
For several years, Hula Anyone and its dancers have participated in events at senior homes, non-profit organization events, hospitals, local schools, community events, and private events. The dancers have performed at Santa Barbara’s historical theatres and educational institutions, as well as many halls and private estates. They have been featured in the Santa Barbara Summer Solstice Parade, Downtown Holiday Parade, Concerts in the Park, and at venues such as the Granada Theatre, Lobero Theatre, Marjorie Luke Theatre, and Soho. The organization supports the arts in the greater Santa Barbara community.
