Santa Barbara Sailing Center Youth Programs include kid's summer camp and kids after school sailing, along with activities such as sailing instruction and small boat rentals. The program operates alongside other on-the-water options like stand-up paddleboard (SUP) rentals, kayak rentals, stand-up paddleboarding adventures, public cruises and boat rides, and music on the water. Additional offerings at the center include sunset cruises, coastal and harbor cruises, waterfront and Channel Islands adventures, cruising yacht rentals, yacht charters, private charters for up to 6 people, seminars and club regattas, the Parade of Lights, Sipping on the Sea, corporate team-building sail boat races (regattas), and peaceful memorial services.
• Schedule: Open Monday–Sunday with seasonal hours, including winter hours from 9am–5pm PST and summer hours from 9am–6pm PST, with latest rental times in fall and winter at 3:30pm and in spring and summer at 4:30pm
The Santa Barbara Sailing Center has been introducing people to the lifestyle and sport of sailing and providing professional instruction since 1967. The program’s mission is to enrich people’s lives by providing unique on-the-water experiences and to encourage individuals of all ages and levels of experience to enjoy Santa Barbara from the water. The center has a large crew of certified instructors with sailing resumes, knowledge, and experiences, and is led by owner Skip Abed, his wife Jen, and their two daughters, Hala and GiGi. It operates one of the largest accredited American Sailing Association (ASA) schools in the nation, has been chosen as the American Sailing Association School of the Year for two consecutive years, and is Green Business Certified with aims to prevent pollution, conserve natural resources, and exceed environmental regulatory requirements. The center also runs a comprehensive corporate team-building program that uses sail boat races (regattas) for companies of all sizes.
