Channel Islands YMCA Youth Programs and Camps offers activities that include a fitness center with advanced cardio and strength training equipment, group exercise classes, and child and adult swimming lessons. The program also includes gymnasium classes, wrestling, boxing, handball, summer camps, hikes, athletics, swimming, clubs, and social services. The Channel Islands YMCA is a charitable organization providing programs based upon Christian principles to people of all ages, races, religious beliefs, and economic status to promote Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility. In 1887, the same year that the first train came to Santa Barbara, the YMCA was formed in Santa Barbara and Ventura. The Channel Islands YMCA is an association of seven Ys including Camarillo, North Ventura, Montecito, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Santa Ynez, and Lompoc. The YMCA trains young adults for jobs, provides children with a safe place to go, and helps seniors build connections. Through the Channel Islands YMCA, thousands of volunteers, donors, leaders, and partners across San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura counties are empowering others to be healthy, confident, connected, and secure. The Channel Islands YMCA, an association of seven YMCAs, is a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
