Sessions also include self myofascial release, agility work, dynamic stretching, arm care with shoulder tubes, shoulder and arm band work, stretch band movements, and post arm care protocols including weighted implement reverse throwing methods, internal shoulder stretching routines, band work, and the use of mobility wrap devices and Marc Pro devices for post arm recovery.

• Schedule: 4–8 week summer training and 2–3 week winter training

ThrowZone Academy operates as a full time indoor pitching academy and has functioned as a full time facility since 2000. Jim Wagner, a former collegiate pitcher at the University of Arizona and coach, leads the program and has 25 years of coaching experience, beginning a very small pitching business in 2000. The program offers summer and winter training camps that bring high school and college students from all over the country and uses a vast array of training tools, devices, and equipment, including physical therapy-type protocols and equipment. The academy reports over 20,000 players coached in 25 years, with over 210 players moving into professional and collegiate baseball, 163 clients throwing over 90 miles per hour, 62 clients throwing 94 mph, and 15 clients throwing 100 mph or higher, and it is described as “The #1 Pitching Development Program on the West Coast—Built for Serious Players Only.” The program maintains a consistent network of communication with travel ball programs, has showcase circuit knowledge, and communicates with college coaches, professional scouts, trainers, and medical professionals for referrals to place students in appropriate settings. Objective measurements for gains in core strength, arm velocity, and weighted ball protocols are tracked through note taking and contest-driven activities, and the program states a commitment to arm health and recovery that distinguishes it from other lesson providers, with an emphasis on maintaining unprecedented arm health, guaranteed. One testimonial states, “Let me just say, for any of you who love baseball, and want to become great pitchers and are in it to win it, or just throw the ball with great velocity and control, then I highly recommend TZAcademy.”
