True Roots Nature Network is organized into three branches: the Children in Nature School Program, the Healing in Nature Program, and the Community in Nature Program. The Children in Nature School Program is an alternative educational program for children ages 3–10 and incorporates Common Core standards, which are California’s educational standards. Programs offered include the Tiny Seedlings Program for ages 18 months through preschool, an Elementary School Program, an Afterschool Adventure Program, and a Homeschool Program for preschool through 5th grade. The Healing in Nature Program focuses on people who have dealt with physical or emotional trauma and assists those who need help physically to get back out in nature on guide assisted hikes with qualified staff, with a component of therapy at the end of each session. The Community in Nature Program is designed to connect families in nature and includes hikes, meetups, camp outs, and more. The school emphasizes that not all classrooms have four walls.

True Roots Nature Network was founded in 2020. Angela Garcia is the Teacher, Director of Education, and Co-Director of the Program, and Daniel Garcia is the Teacher, Director of Community Outreach, and Co-Director of the Program. Angela Garcia is well connected in the Santa Cruz Mountain and forest school communities. The stated mission of True Roots Nature Network is to foster a love of learning in nature with children through creative lessons and open exploration.
