Coastal Kids L.A. offers outdoor adventures that include hiking, time at the beach, visits to parks, and other outdoor activities. The program also arranges beach birthday party setups and special event setups.

Director and founder Gordon C Ewing has taught early childhood education for 14 years and has been active outdoors his whole life. The program states that it is a safe sunscreen advocate and asks families to send children in protective clothing such as hats and rash guards, with sunscreen applied before arrival and packed in their backpack for reapplication upon request. Coastal Kids L.A. offers Summer and Spring Break Camps, hosts outdoor adventures on most school holidays and random off days, and is open most school holidays and breaks throughout the year in all-outdoor settings. The program’s mission states that it focuses on playing, exploring, and discovering in nature, with an outdoor classroom that supports social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth, and emphasizes respect, mindfulness, compassion, and empathy toward people and nature’s living beings.
