Digital Dragon is celebrating 11 years in business, having opened for spring camp in 2014 and now entering its 12th year. The program was developed with a mission to bring tech education to students in Santa Monica and the surrounding areas, and it is a Los Angeles based technology education provider. It is described as the longest running year-round tech studio for classes and camps, and it develops and executes its own original curriculum. The program offers personalized learning experiences, small student-to-teacher ratios, and teaches year-round in dozens of Los Angeles area schools. Instructors have real world tech experience, and staff are First Aid and CPR trained, with secure servers and software listed as part of its safety practices. Digital Dragon states that kids will learn a new programming language, become makers, and have fun at the same time, and that students will evolve from just consuming technology to creating it. The program describes its approach as a 21st century version of art, science, creative writing, and math, with teamwork noted as a key component, and emphasizes meeting students in their domain and passions while highlighting that achievement is hard-earned, often collaborative, and worth chasing. The organization notes that it partners with many public and independent schools in Santa Monica, Los Angeles, Culver City, and beyond, including independent, private, public, and charter schools throughout Southern California that are interested in teaching technology or integrating tech into their curriculum. It also notes that it has been “Proudly Featured!” and that staff members use “dragon” names.

Parent feedback includes comments that a child continued working on a project an hour after class ended, that a student who enjoys math and technology realized they liked building and programming electronics after camp, and that a private Minecraft session was described by a child as the “Best day ever!”
