About

Santa Monica AYSO Region 20 Soccer Programs offer youth soccer, with players participating in organized soccer activities. The program is run as an all-volunteer soccer program and includes multiple soccer divisions and programs within the region.

Santa Monica AYSO (Region 20) has been bringing the joy of soccer to the community since 1972. The region follows a mission that emphasizes fun, fairness, and teamwork, with principles that include Everyone Plays, balanced teams, and a requirement for good sportsmanship. It offers a positive, all-skills-welcome soccer experience with balanced teams, positive coaching, great sportsmanship, and a focus on player development at every level.

Every family participates in the program by taking on roles such as coaching, refereeing, team managing, field monitoring, and serving as division commissioners and in many other volunteer positions. The region offers several distinct soccer options, including the EPIC (formerly VIP) program, an Extra Program with invite-only registration, and an Alliance Soccer Program with invite-only registration.

The leadership team includes Regional Commissioner Lisa Demsky; Assistant Regional Commissioner – Girls Alessandro Valentini; Regional Referee Administrator John “Gray” O’Brien; Regional Coach Administrator Erik Saltmarsh; Extra Program Administrator and Spring Chair Ben Tshibasu-Kabeya; Director of Team Managers Floresita Arcari; Women’s Coaching Initiative lead Melinda Mehringer; Treasurer Nick Wells; Financial Assistance Coordinator Abby Marpet; Registrar Amir Torkamani; Child Volunteer & Protection Advocate Will Pfaff; Field & Safety Director Doug Trussler; Director of Volunteer Recruitment and Education Holly Silvers-Granelli; IT Directors Kapil Kulkarni and Suzie Roth; Assistant Regional Referee Administrator Zoe Schweitzer; Referee Points Program Coordinator Kimberly Ong; and Regional Director of Instruction Gray O’Brien. The region also has division commissioners for EPIC, 5U Boys, 5U Girls, 6U Boys, 6U Girls, 7U Boys, 7U Girls, 8U Boys, 8U Girls, 10U Boys, 10U Girls, 12U Boys, 12U Girls, 14U Boys, 14U Girls, Upper Division Boys (U16–U19), and Upper Division Girls (U16–U19).
