The gym offers programs for kids and adults, from beginners to fighters, and the first class is free. There is also an opportunity to learn Muay Thai from ONE Championship Featherweight World Champion Nico Carrillo at a special event.

Head Coach Lance Dixon has trained exclusively under Kru David Huerta for his entire career, has been an active pro fighter since 2018 with over a decade of competitive experience, and holds five titles including IAMTF U.S. and California Welterweight titles, the IKF SoCal Super Welterweight Championship, and the Tournament to Bangkok Middleweight title. He has over six years of experience teaching his striking style at Santa Monica Striking and is the winner of the Tournament to Bangkok Middleweight Championship. Coach Dean Perry (also referred to as Dean Rosenwald) has over 15 years of experience, began his Muay Thai journey in 2009, has fought in more than a dozen domestic bouts and multiple fights in Thailand including a win at Thaphae Stadium, and has trained in Chiang Mai where he competed three times in two months against elite stadium champions. He also studies the traditional Khmer art of Bokator under Grandmaster San Kim Sean in Cambodia.

Coach Claudio Moreno has over 20 years of martial arts experience, is an expert in boxing, Muay Thai, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, transitioned to coaching in 2014, and has coached students ranging from beginners to competitive fighters. Coach Norberto “Pollo” Miranda is originally from Mexico City, has lived in Los Angeles for 23 years, began training Muay Thai in 2012, and competes regularly in the Los Angeles Muay Thai circuit. According to the gym’s mission statement, the program is built around making martial arts accessible to children and adults, with a focus on grit, discipline, personal growth, and providing expert instruction and a supportive environment for everyone from first-time students to active competitors.

Testimonials from parents and students describe Santa Monica Striking as having a family feel, welcoming to all levels, with coaches who take time to help students improve and prepare for fights, and note that head coach Lance is a very experienced fighter.
