The Magical Atelier is a children’s art studio and boutique that offers creative art classes given in English and Spanish. The studio’s mission states that attention is given to detail and each child is embraced as a unique artist, with focus placed on the process and not the product. According to its mission, the studio’s philosophy is to support children in creating art as they like and in allowing them to express themselves through their own lens, with a place for children to holistically and freely explore creative art and their own sense of creativity. The mission also states that, particularly in a post-Covid world, the studio offers healing and affirming creative classes, exists to support and show respect to children and their work, and focuses on the benefits of open-ended art in the field of Early Childhood Development. The Magical Atelier describes art in its mission as helping children in social, emotional, cognitive, thinking, hand-eye coordination, large motor skills, and creative development, and invites parents to bring their children and see how crucial this type of approach to art is for their development.
The Magical Atelier is a Latina women-led studio, independently owned and operated by its founder, Jessy. The studio is inspired by the beauty and romance of the Eiffel Tour and provides complimentary coffee, tea, water, and lemonade while following COVID-19 safety guidelines. The program describes itself as an inclusive, supportive, and bilingual environment that is suitable for toddlers, preschool, and school-aged children, and it also offers art events for adults. The Paint & Sip class for adults includes wine, cheese, a canvas, all needed painting supplies, a still life to paint from, and light instruction.
For community involvement, The Magical Atelier offers group art activities for birthday parties, bridal showers, baby showers, and more, and the space is available for party rentals, private events, and community events. The studio accepts donations to help purchase art supplies and to offer its classes to children in the community. The Magical Atelier has been featured in an article by VoyageLA magazine.
