Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clara Valley

The Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clara Valley offers Art Classes taught by a professional art teacher, Cooking Class held every Friday, a Mentor Program with Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Ventura County, Reading Club visits to the Fillmore Library, Robotics using computers and Lego’s, weekly STEM Programs, Garden Club twice a week, Torch Club for ages 11 to 13, Triple Play for ages 6 to 18, and Smart Moves for ages 6 to 18.

Programs

• Art Classes — Taught by a professional art teacher; teaches club members about a variety of art mediums ranging from pastel to watercolors.
• Cooking Class — Every Friday · Club members meet every Friday to learn how to cook healthy and tasty foods. Classes are taught by program staff members.
• Mentor Program — In collaboration with the Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Ventura County, offers a Mentor Program in which elementary aged children are partnered with a high school aged mentor.
• Reading Club — Club members walk to the Fillmore Library and participate in the special programs they offer, and children check out a reading book for one week.
• Robotics — Utilizing computers and Lego’s, Robotics teaches children to build robots whose movements are controlled by computer, enhancing knowledge of science and technology.
• STEM Programs — Weekly · A variety of weekly Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics activities.
• Torch Club — 11-13
• Triple Play — 6-18
• Garden Club — Twice a week · Club members meet and learn how to plant flowers and tend to the garden.
• Smart Moves — 6-18

• Ages: 6–18 years old
• General schedule: The club's activities primarily take place after school, during school recesses, in the evening, and on weekends. The Santa Paula, Fillmore, and Piru locations offer an after-school program as well as seasonal programs during summer, fall, winter, and spring recesses.
• Facility hours: Open M-F, 2 p.m.-6 p.m. for the Santa Paula Club Site; Open M-F, 2 p.m.-6 p.m. for the Fillmore Club Site; Open M-F, 2 p.m.-6 p.m. for the Many Mansions–Fillmore Club Site; Open M-F, 2 p.m.-6 p.m. for the Piru Club Site.

About the provider

The club was originally founded as a Boys Club by the Santa Paula Police Department in 1949, and girls became members in 1968. Its mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need them the most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. It has four sites serving the cities of Santa Paula, Fillmore, and the unincorporated area of Piru, and it provides programs and services to youth and families of Santa Paula and Fillmore.
