Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma-Marin Summer Camp includes Theme-Week program activities with games and sports on a weekly theme, arts projects, STEM activities, and daily reading time. Campers take part in warm welcome and group bonding activities such as camp songs and icebreakers, as well as social emotional skill building activities. The program also includes summer accelerated learning programming, Homework Help, time in a Technology Lab, and a mix of Arts & STEM plus Sports & Games, with every week ending in a special Fun Friday activity.
• Ages: 5–13 years old
• Schedule: During the school year, Clubs are open from school dismissal until 5:30pm or 6pm for students in 1st–12th grade (TK/Kinder available at some locations).
• Price: The cost to operate Camps is $290 per child per week; Summer Day Camp is $290 per child per week; the cost to operate Clubs is $550 per child per month.
Camp provides breakfast, lunch, and snacks for all campers, and over 430,000 meals are served annually to youth in the community. Campers are encouraged to bring an additional healthy snack and plenty of water, and parents are asked not to send fast food, candy, or soda. Camps recommend leaving personal possessions at home, allow personal tech equipment only for specific learning apps during designated times, and require any cell phones brought to stay in backpacks, with cameras and videos not permitted and distracting phones subject to confiscation. The organization states that no child is left behind because financial assistance is available. Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma-Marin has developed hundreds of unique programs with a focus on Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, Good Character, and Life & Workforce Readiness, and it operates Clubs across the community in clubhouses, on school campuses, at affordable housing complexes, and in Juvenile Hall.
