About
Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma-Marin Summer Camp includes camp songs and icebreakers, weekly theme-based games and sports, and Theme-Week program activities. Campers take part in arts projects, STEM activities, daily reading time, and time in a Technology Lab. The program also offers summer accelerated learning programming, social emotional skill building activities, general games, and Homework Help.
• Ages: 5–13 years old
• Schedule: During the school year, Clubs are open from school dismissal until 5:30pm or 6pm for students in 1st–12th grade (TK/Kinder available at some locations).
• Price: The cost to operate Summer Day Camp is $290 per child per week, and the cost to operate Clubs is $550 per child per month.
The program states that camp provides a safe and healthy environment, supportive of social-emotional development, and that all activities are geared to help youth stay physically and mentally active, while having fun. Every week culminates in a special Fun Friday activity, and campers have Emotional Check-ins throughout the day. Breakfast, lunch, and snacks are provided for all campers at all camp locations, and campers are encouraged to bring an additional healthy snack and plenty of water. The organization states that every child deserves the right to attend Summer Camp and that it has developed hundreds of unique programs to support Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, Good Character, and Life & Workforce Readiness, and that it serves over 430,000 meals annually.
Camp is a time for campers to put down their cell phones and focus on learning new skills and interacting with peers, and cameras and videos are not permitted on cell phones. Personal tech equipment is allowed only when specific learning apps are used during designated times, and if campers bring a cell phone, it must stay in their backpack except during selected, supervised times. The program has a no-refund policy for programs or camps and states that it is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items, and that personal possessions are strongly recommended to be left at home. The mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma-Marin is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need them most, to realize their full potential as caring, productive, and responsible adults.
