Brush Creek Nursery School

Brush Creek Nursery School offers nature-based play, learning through hands-on experiences, and play-based experiences. Children spend time in thoughtfully prepared classrooms and in ample outdoor space. The program also includes an Outdoor Explorer Program with additional nature-based play and learning, supported by an outdoor enrichment educator on staff.

Brush Creek Nursery School in Santa Rosa (incorporated as Brush Creek Family Services) has been preparing children for a lifelong love of learning since 1959. Its mission is to meet the social-emotional, physical, and cognitive needs of each child, empowering them to become confident individuals with a lifelong excitement for learning, in a safe, nurturing environment where young children learn through hands-on and play-based experiences. BCNS is a private, nonprofit school supported by tuition and community fundraising. Brush Creek Nursery School was the first state-licensed nursery school in Santa Rosa and was one of the first Northern California preschools to become Nationally Accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children for its quality program. The leadership team includes Program Director Allyson Madrid and Site Supervisor/Teacher Tess Mellor. The staff includes educators with qualifications such as associate and bachelor’s degrees, master’s degrees, ECE certificates and permits, multiple subject teaching credentials, and specialized training in early childhood education and site supervision.
