About

Vipers Baseball Club is a neighborhood travel baseball program that plays in tournaments sanctioned by USSSA, TPR, River City, and NCS Baseball in the AA and AAA divisions of play. Each Vipers team takes part in travel baseball and follows tournament schedules that are released at the start of the season.

• Ages: 9–18 years old
• Schedule: Each team practices a minimum of two times a week, excluding tournament weekends; tournament schedules are released at the start of the season.
• Price: Rincon Vipers Baseball Club is a competitive pay to play team.

Vipers Baseball Club was established in the summer of 2018, starting with only 9u and 10u teams and later expanding to 9u through 18u division teams after a successful first season. The stated goal is to develop players and help them realize that every position on the diamond is as important as another. It is a travel baseball club that competes with some of the top competitors in the area and uses Little League minimum play rules of at least two innings in the field and one at bat a game, excluding time or score shortened games. At the 9U–12U ranges, athletes are required to play Little League during the spring, and at 13U–14U some players may choose to focus strictly on Vipers while others remain aligned with both Little League and Vipers, as the club is described as an additive experience rather than a replacement for Little League.

There are no tryouts for Vipers teams; players are evaluated during the spring baseball season and rosters are selected by the coaching staffs. Player rosters consist of a minimum of 10 players and up to 13 players, and depending on the number of interested families, red shirt practice-only players may be considered or additional Vipers teams in single A or AA divisions may be added. Players must live or attend a school in the Rincon Valley School District area to be eligible for team selection, and Vipers age divisions are strongly suggested to follow Little League age charts rather than USSSA player age charts. USSSA players who meet lower division age rules or use school grade waivers may play for a lower age division team with Vipers Board approval, and players may also play up a division if that team has a roster limitation.

The Vipers Board encourages kids to play other sports and states that it is flexible on practices and tournaments, but players will not be able to change plans if their schedule opens up after a replacement player has already been contacted. The club states that no player will arrive at a tournament and not play, and suggests that Saturdays use a continuous batting order while Sundays are left to the team manager’s decision on how many kids bat in the order. Vipers players will typically only play one or two positions throughout the season so they can own a position and master it, and not every player will pitch or play infield. Managers must follow all rules set by USSSA and the Rincon Vipers Baseball Club philosophy, and managers who do not follow the club’s direction are subject to dismissal from the team and potential team folding.

Vipers Baseball Club states that it values the respect and notoriety it has established with local baseball clubs and is fully supportive of the Little League experience. The club notes that it does not receive donations of any kind from Rincon Valley Little League and is not directly connected with Little League baseball. Vipers gear is available through a Vipers apparel store run by Sideline and BSN, and the club maintains a social media presence on Instagram and Facebook.
