Camp leaders’ training includes camp safety, activity planning, CPR, First Aid, and more. The Sonoma County Family YMCA states that YMCA camps have more than 100 years of camping experience and focuses on the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Financial assistance with reduced rates is available for income-eligible families for camping programs, and ACH (Autopay) is listed as the preferred method of payment for camp fees. A sibling discount of 10% per session is available for each additional child enrolled while in concurrent sessions, and this discount does not apply to rates already reduced through financial assistance. Summer Adventure Day Camp and Sports Camps require a minimum enrollment of three days per week, and the Y is a smoke-free campus. The Sonoma County Family YMCA states that it is committed to making facilities, programs, and services accessible to people with disabilities and will not discriminate on the basis of disability or impairment.

All camper Health History and Medical Release forms are due on the first day of camp and must be turned in at the camp site the child is attending, and a copy of the child’s immunization record is required. Parents are asked to inform staff of any allergies or special health conditions, and children younger than 6 years old may attend only if they have completed a year of Kindergarten or TK. For camps located at Rohnert Park schools Hahn, Monte Vista, La Fiesta, Thomas Page, and Lawrence Jones Middle School, families need to first register with Activity Hero through the school district.

The Sonoma County Family YMCA describes itself as an inclusive, charitable organization that enriches community through Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility. One parent testimonial reports that a child who was anxious about attending camp later said he “loves it,” looks forward to camp days, and responds with a “yes” and a fist pump when told it is a camp day.
