About

Sonoma County Family YMCA Youth Programs take place at the main YMCA facility and in a separate building that houses before and after school childcare, preschool, seasonal camps, youth sports, and teen specialty programs. The main facility includes two indoor pools, a dry sauna, a fitness center, a group exercise studio, an Activity Center, an outdoor basketball court, locker rooms, and a Child Watch area that supports families while they use YMCA programs. Families who are YMCA members also have access to YMCA360, a virtual platform that allows them to stream YMCA offerings from home, on the go, or while on vacation at no additional cost.

• Schedule: The YMCA facility is open on weekdays from 5:30 AM to 8:30 PM (with the pool closing at 8 PM) and on weekends from 8 AM to 6 PM (with the pool closing at 5:45 PM); the Membership Center has weekday and weekend daytime hours, and Child Watch is available during set morning and afternoon blocks on weekdays and mornings on weekends.

The Sonoma County Family YMCA was founded in 1954, with its current program and physical education facility built near downtown Santa Rosa in 1972 and later expanded with an Activity Center in 1993, a teaching pool in 1995, and additional renovations and new fitness and family areas between 2003 and 2005. The organization states that it is an inclusive, charitable organization that focuses on Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility. It operates as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit social services organization and reports that each summer it involves more than 3,000 youth in its programs, supported by volunteers and public and private donors, as part of a broader YMCA presence in 10,000 U.S. communities and more than 120 countries. The Sonoma County Family YMCA notes that it is a smoke-free campus, that animals are not allowed in the facility except for identified service dogs, and that financial assistance is available. It also states that it is committed to making reasonable efforts so that its facilities, programs, and services are accessible and usable by people it serves, including those with disabilities, and that it will not discriminate or exclude people from reasonable access or participation on the basis of disability or impairment. Requests or inquiries about access to facilities, programs, activities, or other special needs may be directed to Michelle Head at [email protected] or 707-545-9622 x3120.
