The MovementLAB

The MovementLAB offers Adaptive Dance Classes for all abilities, including dancers with developmental, cognitive, or physical disabilities. The classes are workshop style, use short 4-6 week sessions, and have Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday meeting times from 3:45-4:25.

Programs

• Adaptive Dance Classes — All abilities; most dancers have developmental, cognitive and or physical disabilities. 1hr performing adaptive classes are for older Teen-Adult dancers who can take class independently (without assistance). · Monday 3:45-4:25; Wednesday 3:45-4:25; Thursday 3:45-4:25 · $45–$150 per month · Workshop style. Short 4-6 week sessions. Dancers who need physical assistance can have a parent/caretaker participate; only 1 parent/caretaker may assist in class.

About the provider

The leadership team includes Bernadette Alverio-Tonks and Jordan Johnson. The program’s mission statement says, “At The Movement Lab we believe in following your heart and pursuing your passion.” The MovementLAB is also a vendor with the North Bay Regional Center, and it has received the Best of Sonoma County Reader’s Choice Award for Best Dance Studio.

Classes fill quickly. Registration opens Tuesday July 21st at 10:00am. All classes are performing classes unless marked otherwise. Please do not sign up for a performing class if you cannot participate in the fall performance. New dancers are not permitted to participate in more than one company during their first year. Participation in two companies is only recommended for serious dancers with strong family support. Dancers may be asked to leave or wear a mask if ill or have flu-like symptoms.
