The Reading Clinic

The Reading Clinic offers one-to-one tutoring in reading, reading readiness, fluency, reading and spelling, expression, comprehension, writing, math, and homework help. The program also provides assessments, reading comprehension support, verbal expression and language comprehension work, and support for learning differences, including dyslexia help and tutoring, ADD/ADHD tutoring and help, support for Asperger’s and Autism, and help for learning disabilities. Since 1997, The Reading Clinic has been helping students become more successful in school through one-to-one tutoring in reading, comprehension, spelling, writing, verbal expression, language comprehension, and math. As an academic remediation and learning center, its stated focus is on enhanced academic performance and self-esteem, and it provides students with a safe and accepting environment, engaging them in an ongoing process of discovery. The Reading Clinic is a Bay Area non-profit offering multi-sensory tutoring for reading, writing, comprehension, and dyslexia, and it uses and adapts research-based multi-sensory programs in a 1-to-1 dialogue-based format for children behind grade level and for children with learning differences or learning disabilities such as dyslexia, ADHD, and ASD. The program states that it delivers high quality and targeted interventions for struggling students, creates customized solutions to strengthen foundational academic abilities, and integrates multisensory, research-based methodologies that produce measurable results that last a lifetime.

According to the program, its approach has helped thousands of children who were behind several grade levels in reading, writing, and math to work independently at grade level, and has also helped children at grade level or in gifted programs to achieve mastery and enhance academic performance in language arts and math. The Reading Clinic reports that its unique approach to learning has provided children with a thirst for knowledge and a desire to improve and get ahead. The organization notes that it has four locations in the Bay Area, including San Francisco, and that it is now a non-profit organization helping Bay Area children with reading, writing, comprehension, expression, and writing.
