About
Friendship Explorations offers fun outdoor camps and groups with a therapeutic twist, with each camp session tailored to the group attending. Through a combination of teaching and unstructured play, the program addresses a wide variety of friendship and development skills through adventure, creativity, and connection to nature. While children are playing outside with a group of new friends, they are also being provided support and learning skills in sensory processing, emotional regulation, social play, following directions, sequencing, play skills, balance and strength, problem solving, and confidence building.

Friendship Explorations is an outdoor-based group for children ages 4–13, led by a licensed occupational therapist or speech therapist. All sessions are led by at least one licensed therapist and supported by occupational therapy students or volunteers. Children are grouped by age and ability, with a typical structure of 6 kids and a 3:1 child-to-support ratio, and Friendship Explorations recognizes the importance of good group dynamics and carefully considers both age and developmental level when organizing each session.
The program’s goal is to provide a playful outdoor experience for children who may have trouble in a traditional setting. Friendship Explorations strives to make outdoor summer camp a reality for all kids, regardless of ability, and offers additional services to support each child's needs, including consultation with OT/SLP leaders at an hourly rate (30-minute minimum), the option for one-to-one aides for an additional fee or for families to provide their own aide, and a 2–3 page summary report after completion of the group or camp experience at an hourly rate.
Included in the cost of camp are a review of therapeutic needs and parent goals, customization of group plans based on the individual needs of each child, a daily email report explaining activities and their therapeutic benefits, and a daily photo log. For the Spring SERIES groups, the program includes a review of therapeutic needs and parent goals, customization of group plans based on the individual needs of each child, a weekly email report explaining activities and their therapeutic benefits, and a weekly photo log. Groups run rain or shine.
The Spring SERIES runs for 10 weeks from March 23–June 4, with a 4–6 year old group on Tuesdays only from 3:30–5:30 pm ($1804, no sessions 4/7–4/11, with 4-year-old groups an additional $22.50 per day due to a 5-child limit), a 6–8 year old group on Thursdays only from 3:30–5:30 pm ($1804, no sessions 4/7–4/11), an 8–13 year old group on Mondays only from 3:30–5:30 pm ($1628, no sessions 5/25 and 4/7–4/11), and an 8–13 year old group on Wednesdays only from 3:30–5:30 pm ($1804, no sessions 4/7–4/11). Spring Break Camp runs Monday 4/6–Friday 4/10 from 9:30 am–12:30 pm for $945. Summer Camp 2026 offers one-week sessions from June 15–August 19, Monday–Friday, 9:30 am–12:30 pm, at $945 per week, with a $25 discount for campers who attend more than one week.
A parent from Camp 2018 reported that their son was giddy at both drop-off and pick-up, enjoyed using tools in nature and his imagination, liked talking about his “flexible brain,” and was able to show the family what the group had done when they returned to the sites together. The parent also noted receiving pictures and a lengthy write-up at the end of each day, and described that Corry discussed an unrelated question about their son and offered suggestions.
