Scotts Valley Sportsmen's Club Youth Program

Scotts Valley Sportsmen's Club Youth Program offers Marksmanship Nights using .22 rifles with “quiet” ammunition, where youth shoot at targets on the range and can use targets that spin or turn when they are hit. The program also offers a Continuing Marksmanship Program that teaches more advanced marksmanship skills, including shooting from prone, kneeling, standing, and benchrest positions. Archery Nights use Genesis compound bows for shooting at targets on the range, and youth have the opportunity to earn marksmanship badges and medals, including Pro-Marksman, Marksman, Sharpshooter, Expert, and Distinguished Expert.

• Ages: 8–17 years old
• Schedule: Three evening events per month from April–October, with 1-hour sessions between 6:30 PM and 8:30 PM
• Price: All events are free.

All equipment is provided for the Scotts Valley Sportsmen's Club Youth Program, and students are asked not to bring their own equipment because the program prefers students use the gear provided. A parent or guardian must be in attendance with their child at all times but is not permitted to shoot. Participants are asked to dress warmly, bring a flashlight, arrive 10 minutes early for their session, and be registered for an event in order to attend. The Youth Director is Charlie Baum. The stated goal of the program is to provide a safe and fun introduction to the shooting sports for community youth ages 8–17. The Scotts Valley Sportsmen's Club is an NRA Member Club.
