About the Class

Adventure Gaming classes presented by The Game Academy are held weekly for 2-hour sessions over an 8-week term. Participating players explore collaborative storytelling in a mentorship model using games like Dungeons & Dragons to build community, foster empathy, and support social-emotional growth.

Our trained Educator-Gamemasters guide players in choosing the kinds of stories that interest them, then support unique and dynamic character creation, and finally present an engaging narrative filled with puzzles and mysteries to be solved, social role-play to navigate, and tactical challenges to be overcome... all based on the players' interests. This uniquely tailored experience provides a rich context of personal investment, and engages our players with a fun and collaborative activity that helps them overcome social and emotional challenges, teaches them to engage with a growth mindset, supports the development of critical thinking and cooperative problem-solving skills, and helps them form lasting bonds with their peers.

We hope your child will join us for a new adventure this coming Fall Term at the Sonoma Community Center.

Sonoma Community Center Sonoma Community Center

Since its founding in 1952, the purpose of the Sonoma Community Center has been to build community by offering opportunities for Sonomans to connect, learn, and grow – together.

We envision a campus where people of all ages, races, gender identities, sexual orientations, language backgrounds, artistic talents, income levels, interests, and more feel not just welcome, but at home. A place where everyone finds something to suit their needs.
