About

Rhoten Productions Summer Camps offers Nature Camp and Performing Arts Camp, with activities that include hiking, exploring, swimming, performing arts, and learning about nature. All activities follow a “challenge by choice” approach, meaning each participant may choose not to take part in an activity if they feel uncomfortable, and the program is dedicated to a non-competitive environment so participants can try new things. The program’s philosophy is to let children experience being outside and away from tech for the entire day, with multiple activity options throughout the day and without a rigid timetable.

• Ages: 5–17 years old
• Schedule: Performing Arts Camp (PAC) runs July 6–17, with a show on the 18th

Rhoten Productions Summer Camps was created by Diana Rhoten, who is listed as the general contact and the camp emergencies contact. Rhoten Productions has been involved in children’s adventures and learning for over 30 years, bringing excitement and adventure to children of all ages for over 30 years. The first session of Nature Camp began at the Westerbeke Ranch in 1987, later moved to the VanHoosear Wildflower Preserve, and Nature Camp is now held at Carriger Creek Challenge Course. The Performing Arts Camp is now over 25 years old.

The program states that its goal is to provide new and exciting experiences. It also states that it guarantees to send participants home “happy and TIRED.” Many thanks are given by the program to Muriel VanHoosear, Patty Westerbeke, Marilyn Goode, and Joy Moulton for allowing use of their property for camp purposes.

Parent feedback includes comments such as, “Amazing camp, the kids have a blast, and come home tired. I highly recommend Rhoten camp. Diana is the best director and so friendly. If I could give 10 stars I would,” from Kira Fiebig. Another parent, Kiersten Cook, shared that her family “just finished our very first Rhoten Nature Camp” and that her daughter “had a blast,” describing the camp as “what summer is all about...hiking, exploring, swimming and learning about nature (plus so much more).” Kelly McLeskey Dolata wrote, “We love Nature Camp!!!!! Such a wonderful opportunity for kids to go and learn, explore and have fun!!!!”
