The Sonoma Children’s Creative & Performing Arts program began 25 years ago as a small family run theater program known as BBK. BBK became a staple for youth in Sonoma and exposed thousands of children to live theater. Fifteen years ago, Sarah Durán LeVine started Sonoma Academy of Dance & Arts, which created a space where kids could take their interest in music and dance further and built a program of creative arts summer camps. The two programs, BBK and Sonoma Academy of Dance & Arts, are being merged to create the non profit Sonoma Children’s Creative & Performing Arts. Sarah Durán LeVine started Sonoma Academy of Dance & Arts, and Suzanne Durán is described as the founder and a true mentor. The stated mission is to continue the journey to bring the creative and performing arts to Sonoma in a big way.
