About

Sonoma Conservatory of Dance offers classical ballet and dance instruction, including summer dance camps and full-length productions. Students train under the mentorship of an excellent staff of instructors under the Artistic Direction of Patty O’Reilly.

• Ages: 3–18 years old

Sonoma Conservatory of Dance was founded as Sonoma Ballet Conservatory in 1970 by Beth Marie Deenihan and was re-envisioned as Sonoma Conservatory of Dance in 2005 by Artistic Director Patty O’Reilly. Paperwork for 501(c)3 status was completed in 2016, and 2017 was the first full year operating as a nonprofit. The mission of Sonoma Conservatory of Dance is “Nurturing the growth and expression of young people through the art and discipline of dance. We expand access to high-quality dance education so all can participate, regardless of financial circumstances.” The studio is a nonprofit dance studio that offers classical ballet and dance instruction to youth and adults, expands access to high-quality dance education regardless of financial circumstances, produces full-length productions that blend classical ballet with other cultural themes, and shares high-quality performances with the public. Sonoma Conservatory of Dance states that strong partnerships with families and the surrounding community are essential to every dancer’s journey and that it provides the community with an opportunity to gather together and enjoy performances. Students have been accepted into programs including American Ballet Theatre, Joffrey Ballet, Kaatsbaan Extreme Ballet, Royal Ballet School of Antwerp, Boston Ballet, LINES Ballet, Colorado Ballet, North Carolina Dance Theatre, Orlando Ballet, Ballet West, Nutmeg Conservatory of the Arts, The Gelsey Kirkland Academy of Dance, and the dance departments of UC Irvine, CSU Long Beach, Loyola Marymount, and Marymount Manhattan. Students have also competed in the Margot Fonteyn (previously Genée) International Ballet Competition, Youth America Grand Prix, and the RAD Dance Challenge.
