About
Sonoma Valley Tennis Association Junior Tennis & Youth Programs offers tennis instruction through individual lessons, group lessons, and Junior Tennis. The program includes specialized clinics for kids, beginners, and experienced players, as well as summer programs for youth. Participants can also take part in social events and tournaments connected with the broader Sonoma Valley Tennis Association activities.
• Ages: 6–18 years old
The Sonoma Valley Tennis Association promotes tennis for players of all ages and levels of experience and is a community organization dedicated to the promotion of tennis play within the valley. SVTA was established in 1973 and entered into a long-standing partnership with Sonoma County and the Regional Parks Department in 1996, and for almost three decades it has managed five courts at Maxwell Farms Regional Park. The organization manages these public-access courts, raises funds for their maintenance and upgrades, cleans the courts weekly, maintains and upgrades courts and equipment, hosts social events and tournaments, sponsors USTA and team matches, and connects players for social play. SVTA is a proud member of the national network of USTA Community Tennis Associations and sponsors USTA men and women's leagues and Sonoma-Napa-Marin Women's teams. Scholarships and tennis equipment are available for kids who need assistance.
USPTA Teaching Professional John Sutter is an independent contractor providing tennis instruction on Court 1 at Maxwell Farms Regional Park Tennis. John Sutter is a USPTA Elite Professional, maintains current insurance, is USTA Safe Play certified, and is a former ATP player ranked as high as 523 in the world, with a 37-year teaching and sports industry career. The leadership team of the Sonoma Valley Tennis Association includes Kate McClintock (President), Mark Lyon (Vice President), Judith Alex, Mia Rocca, and Doug Lobsinger. SVTA launched a $300,000 campaign to raise funds for the rebuilding and maintenance of all five courts at Maxwell Farms Regional Park, with donors and supporters including The Mark Lyon and Daniel Cisneros Charitable Fund, The Olympic Club Foundation, The Sonoma County Parks and Recreation Foundation, SVTA members and donors, and USTA Northern California for on-court equipment funds. Corporate sponsorships are offered as a way to reach the Sonoma Valley tennis community while supporting SVTA and hundreds of tennis players who are members and friends.
