Spark Tutoring

Spark Tutoring offers support in reading, writing, math, and enrichment through one-to-one and small group tutoring. The program includes online virtual tutoring, one-to-one tutoring, one-to-one peer tutoring, and small group tutoring, with options for dyslexia remediation and support for ADD/ADHD. Sessions also include activities related to executive function, executive functioning, social emotional learning (SEL), social emotional learning, and growth mindset.

Spark Tutoring offers one-to-one tutoring for students in grades K–12, with a focus on building confidence, executive functioning, and self-advocacy skills. The program uses the Spark Whole Student Learning Approach and includes online tutoring that is described as as fun, personal, and effective as in-person tutoring. Sessions include a tutor with part of a combined 45 years of experience in classrooms, therapeutic settings, and individual learning environments, along with session summaries, flexible scheduling, session reminders, executive function skills instruction, and social emotional learning activities. Spark Tutoring is led by founders Lauren Papadin and Elizabeth Wade.

According to its mission statement, Spark Tutoring states that tutors are skilled at helping students fill foundational gaps while keeping up with current content and curriculum. The mission statement also notes that tutors weave movement, mindfulness, and self-reflection into sessions, and that each tutoring session is geared toward organizational skills such as planning, prioritizing, organizing, and executing tasks, as well as fostering self-regard, with the stated ultimate goal of setting students up to be successful, well-rounded, and fulfilled adults.

Spark Tutoring also offers teacher, parent, and community collaboration, consultations, workshops, and trainings. The program notes that it has school and professional partnerships, is trusted by parents, and is now supporting students in downtown Golden, Colorado.
