About
MAC-System Center for Academic Success After-School Classes offers after-school classes in math and English for students in K–12th grades. The program includes weekly after-school English and math classes, standardized test preparation for SAT and AP tests, and intensive summer courses. It also offers online remote learning options and math classes for kids from kindergarten through 12th grade.
• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Math classes available several afternoons during the week and on Saturdays, with additional ZOOM sessions by appointment
Since 1980, thousands of students in K–12th grades have attended MAC-System’s after-school classes in math and English. The program uses course materials and instructional methods that respond to the abilities of students at every level of achievement and offers an enrichment program that emphasizes individuality, critical thinking, interpretive thinking, and “learning to learn.” MAC-System provides weekly classes, standardized test prep, intensive summer courses, and supplemental education in both fundamental and more advanced subjects, and most students find the program through word of mouth. The organization notes that its standardized test preparation has helped many students achieve much higher scores with SAT, AP tests, and others, and that it has locations in Sherman Oaks, South Pasadena, West LA, along with remote learning options. The leadership team includes instructors Keiko Kikekawa, Allison Ichikawa (Math), Miki Hosokawa (English & Math), Sam Aiga, and Chikako Akama, and the program is guided by MAC’s 5 Principles of Education and 10 Administrative Principles.
