About
Daruma Dojo Kids & Teens Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Judo Programs offer Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Judo classes for children and teens. The program includes Junior BJJ, Youth BJJ, Teen BJJ, BJJ 101, competition training, and randori (live sparring). Judo classes teach traditional Judo techniques through repeated practice and randori.
• Ages: 4–15 years old
• Schedule: Judo classes are available on Fridays and Saturdays.
Kids classes are divided by age and skill level, including Junior BJJ for ages 4–6, Youth BJJ for ages 7–9, and Teen BJJ for ages 10–15. The Honor Roll program is invitational-only for students ages 8–15 who are grey belt and above and who meet the required attitudes and expected behaviors to join. BJJ 101 includes cultural insight, warm-up techniques, exploration of foundational positions, and positional sparring games. The kids and teens programs include support for students with special needs.
Daruma Dojo is described as a family-oriented Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy known for technical excellence and a strong culture of belonging, personal growth, and community. Its mission is to create a space where families grow stronger together, and students of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels feel supported, challenged, and inspired. The leadership team includes Founder and Head Instructor Prof. Alberto Juarez, along with instructors Guilherme Giglio, Noah Myers, Sevey Lee, and Joshua Carter. Prof. Alberto Juarez is a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Jiu-Jitsu under Ricardo Barros, holds a Judo black belt from SJSU legend David Williams, started Jiu-Jitsu in 2003, has 20 years of experience training adults and children in martial arts, and holds a BS in Kinesiology from SJSU.
